Think carefully about borrowing
Student loans can make education possible, but debt should be considered alongside realistic early-career earnings and repayment terms. Compare borrowing scenarios and ask what happens if you change majors, take longer to graduate, or do not finish. Avoid interpreting a high-paying graduate’s story as a guarantee of your own outcome.
Look beyond prestige
Academic support, transfer policies, internship access, graduation rates, and programs aligned with your interests may matter more than a famous name. Community college followed by transfer can work well for some students, but credit-transfer agreements should be confirmed in writing.
